Our All-New MFL2014E-OLK Depository Safe

If you haven’t heard by now, we have released a new product to our MESA depository safe line.  The all-new MFL2014E-OLK is one of the newest additions to the family.  The main difference between the new safe compared to our other depository safes is that it features an outer locker and comes in a lavish black rugged finish.  Very similar to our MFL2714 depository safe, the only difference is the exterior locker instead of an interior locker.  They are still the same as far as dimensions are concerned and provide the best protection against robbery and theft.

We designed the new depository safe to meet the demands of our customers.  Many people loved the interior locker of the safe from the MFL2714, but they wanted to quickly access their belongings without having to actually open the safe. Keeping it very simple, we brought the interior locker to the outside. The exterior locker features a keyed lock for access and added security.  The deposit door is still present for quick deposits and secures storage for cash and other valuables.  The anti-fish baffle prevents any theft through the deposit door.  The main safe door also comes with an electronic lock for high security.

The same security features still exist with the new depository safe including thick live locking bolts against any thief forcing and prying open the safe.  The steel construction, 1/2’’ solid steel door and heavy duty dead bar presents the finest defense against any burglar.  Included with the safe are four anchor holes so that you are able to anchor the safe securely onto the floor, wall or other types of surfaces to prevent any removal from its place.

Our depository safe line is great for any cash-handling business. This safe is absolutely necessary if you own a restaurant or store and want to keep your cash protected at all times.   With the amount of burglaries that occur frequently, especially for small business owners, it’s imperative that you have some type of security safe for your cash deposits.  MESA has designed and manufactured all steel safes since 1981.  Our depository safes are our bread and butter, and we continue to strive to improve and develop all our safes to provide the best protection as well as delivering an affordable product for everyone.  Always remember, “Better MESA Safe than Sorry!”

Burglary Investigation in South Carolina

The police detectives of Horry County Police Department’s Property Crimes Section are looking for more information regarding the two suspects who were recently involved in raiding a restaurant just last week.

Just this past Friday (May 20th, 2011), the police officers of Horry County Police Department’s Uniform Patrol Division reacted to an emergency call from the Seafare Restaurant on North Kings Highway in the Myrtle Beach area of Horry county alarming them of a burglary.

When the police had arrived, they found out two white males who wore black clothing and ski masks broke into the restaurant after terminating the surveillance system from outside.  When the suspected were inside, they went into the office in which they destroyed the alarm and telephone system.  Then they broke into two separate safes with cutter tools.  Over $30,000 in cash was stolen from the restaurant plus $10,000 in damage during the incident.  Detectives are now beginning investigation on the crime scene and any information they can get to reveal the suspects’ identities.

The detectives are asking anyone with information that can aid them in identifying the suspects to contact them at 915-5350 or call 915-TIPS (8477) if you would like to remain anonymous.

This is devastating news for the restaurant owners who now have to go through all the trouble in trying to find the thieves.  That is a large amount of money that was stolen and finding your restaurant in shackles must be heart wrenching.  Not only do they have to deal with the stolen money they’ve earned, but also how much it will costs to replace and rebuild all the damage that was caused. It’s difficult to see your restaurant broken into, even with tight security.  This is another prime example why you should have the best in security surveillance.

“A-Team” Locked Behind Bars for 32 Years for Theft and Burglary

The man behind the scenes is William Castle.  He was living a wealthy life filled with expensive family cruises, sporting designer clothes and luxury items bought for his home all while still satisfying his gambling habit.  He enjoyed the lavish life apparently living off just benefits.

It was a very deceiving lifestyle, as the 50-year-old man was paying for all his extravagance through stealing from businesses across Hampshire and southern England. However, William Castle didn’t do it alone, as he was assisted by a group of trusted “lieutenants,” Castle managed to steal more than £250,000, which is equivalent to about $409,250.00 in U.S. currency in cash, plus goods by breaking into warehouses, shops, restaurants and a garden centre.

The team even managed to steal a safe from Winchester’s InTech science centre – a charity-run museum that works with schools across Hampshire.  The team was no ordinary and inexperienced group.  They raided the areas wearing dark hooded tops and balaclavas where they would cut phone lines, destroyed CCTV cameras, removed alarms off walls and cover smoke detectors to avoid being disturbed and detected.

They would often operate during the dark and after hours, they used angle grinders to cut their way into safes and steal whatever they found from tons of copper piping, iPods and electrical goods to Argos jewelry. Apparently they were compared to the “A-Team,” a popular television show during the 1980s where the members of the team would perform outlandish stunts.

However, the police caught up to the group of criminals after watching Castle, and through phone records, DNA evidence and CCTV footage, they were able to prove that all six group members were involved in the crimes. Today, Castle and his team are behind bars after being jailed for a total of 32 years.

After being caught with stealing the safe from InTech, Castle was pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary and money laundering. He was only receiving £200 a night from his Jobseekers’ allowance, yet he was able to pay for a family trip to the Canary Islands as well as another cruise later in the year that totaled to £6,000.   Not only did he manage to pay for those expensive cruises, but even managed to throw away £85,000 in gambling in just seven months. The estimated total of stolen goods was £300,000 plus the ten of thousands of pounds of damage done to the properties they destroyed.

Judge Gary Burrell described Castle as the “career criminal” who was the “ringleader” of the gang, responsible for organizing and initiating the burglaries. He said that Castle was even going to commit even more burglaries as they were “daring risk taking” that he found “breathtaking.” The judge also described one of the crime scenes at the Argos Store as an “extremely audacious attack” where access to the building was “like something from the A-Team through skylight.”
