We have been rolling out our new Hitch-Hiker high security travel safe for a few months now, but haven’t formally introduced it on our blog. Our Hitch-Hiker travel safe is available for purchase at selected online retailers such as Home Depot and Security Base. We added the new Hitch-Hiker safe onto our full line of steel constructed safes because we believe that our product will significantly benefit those who love to travel and enjoy the outdoors. Why do we think so? We’ll give you some great reasons why our Hitch-Hiker safe is the perfect solution for the everyday outdoorsman.
The first thing that came to mind with our Hitch-Hiker safe is that everyone needs some sort of security and protection when needing to store their valuables inside their car. With millions of car thefts that have been reported every year, it’s important to keep your valuables safe. Most car thefts are quick that involve breaking in the window and grabbing anything the burglar sees in sight; whether it maybe wallets, GPS devices, cell phones, jewelry or other items, the total worth of items stolen per year reach over a billion dollars. Keep in mind, a car theft can happen anytime and anywhere, which is why the Hitch-Hiker safe is the perfect solution for everyone.
Now that we came up with the perfect solution, it was time to execute and create the product. As experts in the steel construction safe industry, we wanted to integrate the same high quality as our top of the line safes and incorporate it into the Hitch-Hiker. The Hitch-Hiker features a ¼ inch thick solid steel door and body. We made sure we added the high security features such as pry-resistant recessed doors, drill resistant hitch pins, and a certified U.L listed group 2 combination lock.
One of the innovative features that many people will love is the hitch attachment. With the hitch attachment you can attach the Hitch-Hiker safe onto any standard 2’’ hitch receivers. For bigger vehicles such as SUVs, vans or trucks, the heavy-duty solid steel lid can be used as a step to access rooftop cargo. For many outdoor enthusiasts, that’s perfect to easily reach and store your surfboards, snowboards, skis, bicycles or other items. We continued to move forward as we made sure the hitch pins can only be retracted from inside the safe to prevent any burglar from removing it from the hitch.
The security and protection was one of our main concerns and priorities when constructing the Hitch-Hiker, but we didn't want to sacrifice its overall look and design. We also made it aesthetically pleasing and functional for traveling. The Hitch-Hiker comes in a nice rugged and durable finish weighing in at 45 pounds for easy portability and a weather resistant body. We know that it’s a hassle to carry your valuables with you when you’re hiking, cycling, surfing, snowboarding or engaging other outdoor activities. That’s why the Hitch-Hiker is designed to store valuables like wallets, keys, cell phones, GPS devices, jewelry and other miscellaneous items to protect it from car theft. We know that keeping your valuables stored in the glove compartment or other compartments inside your car does not offer the best protection. We recommend everyone to invest in a high security steel safe as the next step for maximum protection.
Our hitch safe is now available for purchase. At a low and affordable price, you can start protecting your valuables in your vehicle now. There is no other product like this out in the market. It’s multi-functional, portable, durable, but most importantly, provides full protection and security. Check out our video below featuring the Hitch-Hiker safe and don't become a victim to car theft. Always remember, it's "Better Mesa Safe than Sorry!"
May 11th, 2011 - The 2nd day at the National Hardware Show was as awesome as the first. We got to meet a lot more people and had more people visit our booth to check out our products. We had manufacturers and companies who came to visit who were really nice, down to earth and interested in selling our products. It was a wonderful feeling to network with so many successful companies and we hope to keep in touch even after the show. We passed out a lot of our business cards, brochures and our popular Mesa Gazette newsletter.
Our Mesa Gazette newsletter featured topics on security safes and the benefits of an all steel safe compared to a plastic safe. It was a big deal for us as it was for those who received the newspaper because it informed them about the difference between the two types of safes. Many people who picked up a newspaper were amused with the comics, personals and our crossword puzzle. We hope to have delivered a fun experience, but also an educational one for those who came through.
We're still getting a lot of attention with our Hitch-Hiker safe. Many people just love the fact that they can store their valuables without having to bring it along with them during their outdoor activities. No more worrying about losing your keys or misplacing your wallet when surfing or snowboarding. Our hitch safe wasn't the only safe getting all the attention. Our fire and gun safes also sparked massive interest. A lot of folks wanted something that can store their firearms to protect against theft and fire. Our gun safes were the ideal choice. With summer approaching, many people were interested in our fire safes to protect their valuables under extreme heat or in case of any fire emergencies. We were really eager and motivated to answer any questions people had.
We would like to thank everyone who stopped by our booth so far. It’s an honor and pleasure to share our products with you. The same goes for those who have also shared their products with us. From all the different companies we’ve connected with so far, its no wonder the National Hardware Show is one of the most respected and valued shows in the world. We still got one more day ahead of us and we’ll certainly make the most of it. We would also like to thank those who have been following us on Twitter.
May 10th, 2011 - Day 1 at the National Hardware Show was a huge success! We were very excited to meet everyone who attended the first day, and also our booth neighbors. The different products we saw from all the different manufacturers and companies were spectacular and innovative. It is definitely a pleasure to be a part of the biggest hardware show in the country and have the opportunity each year to share our new products.
The National Hardware Show opened up with a huge commencement and even featured the Las Vegas High School Marching Band. Ourbooth is setup in the Hardware Tools section that features safety, security and locks. The first day we had a great turn out. Many visitors came to our booth to check out our new product line.
Our Plastic Vs. Steel campaign has been a huge hit. We saw a lot of heads turning towards our Plastic Vs. Steel video, many couldn’t believe what they saw. They were surprised with how easy it is to break into a plastic safe compared to a steel safe.
The video demonstration wasn’t the only thing turning heads. We also got a lot of interest on our new hitch safe. They loved how it was portable and durable enough for the outdoors. The extra hitch attachment feature was just icing on the cake.
We’re definitely looking forward to Day 2 of the NHS hardware show. We’ll keep you updated on what’s going on, and what we’ve been up to throughout the show. You can follow us through Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/mesasafecompany) with any updates. If you happen to be at the show, our booth number is #7425. Come visit us and say hi!

Last week, police are investigating a robbery that took place in Santa Monica, California in a back parking lot off Wilshire Boulevard near 21st street. The victim of the unfortunate crime reported that he was robbed of jewelry worth $1.5 million. The police have yet to determine the actual value of the jewelry said Sergeant Richard Lewis of the Santa Monica Police Department.
Lewis reported that they received a call that a robbery took place at 2:08 p.m. behind the Veggie Grill restaurant. In two minutes, the police arrived at the alleged crime scene. The police officers during the time were doing their routine check of the block of Washington Ave., when they received the call, which only took two minutes to arrive at the location.
The unidentified male victim was reportedly a sale representative for a jewelry company where he told the police that the armed robbery happened after lunch when he was going back to his red Toyota Prius. As the victim entered his vehicle, the three suspects who broke into the vehicle’s front driver and passenger side windows then raided him.
The victim had a handgun pointed toward him, while another suspect stole a hard case messenger bag with jewelry contained inside from the passenger side window. One of the suspects also made sure that the victim wasn’t able to flee from the scene by flattening one of the victim’s tires. All three assailants fled the scene supposedly in a new Nissan Sentra or Altima.
The victim described the suspects who had their faces covered, muscular build males around 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. They were around their mid 20s wearing aviator style sunglasses, dark shirts with long sleeves, dark pants and gloves. The victim also reported that the three suspects entered their vehicle with another driver, but was unable to identify the driver.
Executive Vice President of Veggie Grill, Karen Gee-McAuley says that the parking lot is shared by the adjacent retail center. Customers of the Veggie Grill restaurant and other restaurants are provided parking in the rear where the robbery took place. She adds, “This crime is upsetting in that it took place at all and in broad daylight.”
Susan Foster of Susan Foster Los Angeles that sells fine jewelry says that the victim who was robbed was a traveling sales representative who visited her store. During that time she said he was visiting another jewelry store in Wilshire Blvd. The victim reportedly flew in from New York visiting other local jewelry stores in Los Angeles. Fortunately for Foster, she did not sustain any losses from the armed robbery.
