Another Avoidable Shooting Accident

Another recent shooting occurred that could have been preventable.  A young boy shot his twin brother and was sent to the hospital to recover.  The incident was supposedly an accidental shooting.  Nearby, the president of the sportsman association says that there are so many precautions and ways to practice gun safety that tragic accidents like this are completely avoidable.

The president of the West Shore Sportsmans Association, Bob Single, told CBS 21 News that the shooting that took place in East Hanover Township over the weekend could have been prevented. “Anytime a firearm is unsupervised it just should be locked up either with a trigger lock or preferably a safe,” Single said.

Single recommends that if you own a firearm that locks and most importantly, security safes are very easy to find and affordable.  “If you can buy a $500 handgun you should be able to buy a $100 safe to go with. It’s like buy one, buy the safe, buy the gun second,” he said.

Aside from protecting your firearms with proper storage, Single reminds those to practice gun safety. He mentions that there are four basic rules when it comes to gun handling. Remember guns are always loaded, don’t point a gun at anything you’re not ready to kill.  Keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot the target.  He also doesn’t oppose anyone who teaches his or her children how to shoot a gun but he wants to remind everyone to do it with extreme caution.  He says go to a shooting range and never leave your children with an unsecured gun at home.

It’s always sad to see another shooting like this take place.  There have been plenty of incidents where children are gaining access to unsecured guns, yet we never seem to learn the lesson.  Fortunately, the young boy is recovering from the accident.  Any time a firearm is accessible to children, there is a greater chance that accidents like this will occur.  We have to remind ourselves that if you own anything that could be a potential danger to your children, not just firearms, that you should keep it safe and away from them at all times.

Day 2 at the National Hardware Show in Full Swing!

May 11th, 2011 - The 2nd day at the National Hardware Show was as awesome as the first.  We got to meet a lot more people and had more people visit our booth to check out our products. We had manufacturers and companies who came to visit who were really nice, down to earth and interested in selling our products. It was a wonderful feeling to network with so many successful companies and we hope to keep in touch even after the show.  We passed out a lot of our business cards, brochures and our popular Mesa Gazette newsletter.

Our Mesa Gazette newsletter featured topics on security safes and the benefits of an all steel safe compared to a plastic safe.  It was a big deal for us as it was for those who received the newspaper because it informed them about the difference between the two types of safes.  Many people who picked up a newspaper were amused with the comics, personals and our crossword puzzle.  We hope to have delivered a fun experience, but also an educational one for those who came through.

We're still getting a lot of attention with our Hitch-Hiker safe.  Many people just love the fact that they can store their valuables without having to bring it along with them during their outdoor activities.  No more worrying about losing your keys or misplacing your wallet when surfing or snowboarding.  Our hitch safe wasn't the only safe getting all the attention.  Our fire and gun safes also sparked massive interest.  A lot of folks wanted something that can store their firearms to protect against theft and fire.  Our gun safes were the ideal choice.  With summer approaching, many people were interested in our fire safes to protect their valuables under extreme heat or in case of any fire emergencies.  We were really eager and motivated to answer any questions people had.

We would like to thank everyone who stopped by our booth so far.  It’s an honor and pleasure to share our products with you.  The same goes for those who have also shared their products with us.  From all the different companies we’ve connected with so far, its no wonder the National Hardware Show is one of the most respected and valued shows in the world.  We still got one more day ahead of us and we’ll certainly make the most of it.  We would also like to thank those who have been following us on Twitter.

Gun Owners Reminded To Secure Weapons In Safes

It is imperative that guns should be kept safely out of reach when not in use away from children, but more importantly, away from burglars.  There have been plenty of incidents where gun owners carelessly put away their weapons without proper security.

With that being said, gun owners can now safely put away their weapons in affordable, high quality gun safes.  With newly constructed and modernized gun safes it can be a frustrating site for burglars and thieves.  There’s nothing more dangerous than stolen weapons from your home that could be used against you and your family.  Make sure you have a modern gun safe to keep not only your weapons secure, but to protect your family.

There has been news that burglars have been busy stealing a good amount of guns.  In the legion hall and private rural homes in Ringgold, Union and Clarke Counties of Iowa there have been reports that more than 50 guns have been taken.  With guns and weapons being stolen, gun safes are the most popular in Des Moines, Iowa. Strauss Security Solutions in Urbandale have sold safes in Des Moines since the 1920s.

Chad Breheny of Strauss Security Solutions emphasizes that
“It’s very important to lock the guns up, not only to protect them from being stolen, but also just for safety if you do have children in the home or anybody else who could get to these guns.”

Breheny also added that safe manufacturers and designers gave meticulously thought about the design of gun safes.  From the security of 11 ½ thick deadbolts to the 4-inch steel doors and the electronic keypad locks. Some argue that trigger locks and cables are much less expensive and affordable, however they don’t offer the same maximum security as a safe, which can still be susceptible to theft.
